The stitch you can see
Why the stitch is done by hand
A machine can sew a straight line faster than we can. We still stitch the pieces you carry by hand, because a hand stitch can be opened and remade if a thread fails years from now.
What to look at
Look at the spacing before you look at the color of the thread. Even stitches, sitting in holes that were marked before the needle went through, are the quiet sign of time spent. A perfect photo is less useful than a stitch you can trust.
The color of the thread
Cream thread on cognac, olive or tan is there to be seen. On black leather it stays quieter. Either way, the stitch is part of the piece, not a detail we try to hide.
